Quarantine Self Care

With all of us stuck at home, I think a lot of us are adjusting to missing our scheduled appointments and regular self care. I don’t have many regular weekly appointments or outside self care at all (mainly because I’m a budget freak) so guess what people?! ITS MY TIME TO SHINE!

So lets talk about what is probably most important for you guys to keep up with/ learn how to do from home. First I need y’all to hear this…. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE YOUR NAILS DONE! I know if you’re used to having them done you can feel naked, but it’s unnecessary for you chillin in your house, long nails collect more germs underneath them, and you have to come in close contact with others to get them done so please just let that slide during this time. As many of you know I wear the KISS press on sets most of the time and I have stopped that to avoid germs.

Brows

Brows have become a part of a lot of our identities and most of us are not good at doing them at home (hence why we pay to go get them done). I understand this can feel like panic mode for us, but there are a lot of good ways to do your brows at home! You can always just do them the old fashion way with tweezers and try to stay on top of them everyday so you don’t loose the shape. If you don’t want to do that I recommend home waxing strips. I use the Flamingo face wax strips and I have a story highlight on my instagram on how I use them to do my brows at home. That’s what I’m used to and know best. There are also lots of other ones you can buy on Amazon and get shipped to your house and then watch a Youtube video on how to do them. It’s much easier than you think and if you mess up, no ones going to see you for weeks anyways!

Skincare

With all the stress and possibly a change in environment (aka being home so much) our skin can throw some real fits. My biggest advice is to listen to your skin! My skin has been super dry since we started working from home (I have been home quarantining for 6 days now) and I don’t put on makeup as much as I normally would so my skin is acting all crazy. To cope somedays I am still putting on makeup and designating those days to shoot content or to just make me feel good! On days I don’t wear makeup I got really hard on skincare. A typical amount of skincare for me during this time is….

  • Facemask every 4-5 days
  • Washing my face twice a day
  • Toner
  • Serum
  • Moisturizer
  • Eye cream at night

Exercise

2020 has been my year of fitness, but with the new schedule and my lack of access to a gym I’ve really been struggling. I get worried to run outside because I want to stay away from people as much as possible and a lot of people have been getting outside lately. I would say just try to do your best in your homes. A lot of our local workout studios have gone online or other companies are offering free month subscriptions/free online classes or other things. The internet is filled with all kinds of advice on this right now, but just stay active.

I really believe that moving your body will help to bring you joy. Even just getting outside and walking will help. Just move and get your heart reate up in some way!

Haircare

If you unfortunately had to cancel your hair appointment because of this I don’t have a solution to touch up your roots, but your hairstylist definitely might! I would reach out and see if they have any suggestions on something you could order to your house or do at home until you can make it into a salon. If you are just trying to keep your hair healthy, I recommend getting a good hair mask off amazon. I get the Wella Brilliance Mask and I LOVE it! I also would try and give your hair a break from heat while you’re at home. Try not to style it or wash it so much and let it just be it’s happy, healthy self.

I hope right now you are all doing your best to stay safe and healthy. I know this is stressful and annoying that we can’t just live our everyday lives, but we have to do what is right for us and our community. I hope this helps make it a little easier for all of us

Cheers

My Updated Skincare Routine

I went over this on my Instagram stories on Wednesday night and got lots of questions, but I also wanted to link products for you guys so here we are!

I was going to call this my midlife skincare routine, but some of y’all don’t know me personally and don’t get why that’s funny so we’re moving on…

I want to preface this by saying that skincare is complicated. What seems to be working for everyone else may not work for you. Our skin is our largest organ and is super complex. It’s constantly changing and adapting so I am constantly doing the same thing with my skincare.

I have combination skin leaning more oily. I’m currently running dry because of the weird weather we’ve been having here in the DMV, but the current skincare routine I have has been ongoing for about 3/4 months now and it’s been working out great for me through this season.

A good, gentile cleanser

My cleanser has been easy for me. I want something that’s going to keep the biofilm of my skin very healthy, but also get it all cleaned up. I have had the Tula for awhile and it’s been great, but I got the Mario Badescu products for Christmas and I love his cleanser a lot more. I rotate between them mainly because I’m too lazy to move one from the shower to the sink, but they both have been great fo me.

Something to help get the makeup off

When my skin is temperamental aka I’m getting stupid, random breakouts, I always use something to scrub my face. I have a knock off Clairosonic from Conair, but I lost the charger for it (we’ve all been there. Did this with my camera too) so I’ve been using my FOREO Luna FoFo. I also hate whoever named these products, but that’s fine. You do you FOREO. It’s like a little baby rubber scrub brush, but it can also analyze your skin. It’s actually really cool, but it’s expensive. I got mine in a FabFitFun Box, but you can find much cheaper dupes on Amazon without the fancy extras.

A high quality moistorizer

I think your moisturizer can either make or break your skincare routine. Even if you have oily skin, you need to use a moisturizer. I SWEAR BY THIS! I like something very thick to suck in all the moisture during the night and to really coat my skin to protect it while I sleep. If you like a lighter option, go for the Kate Sommerville. This one feels like nothing is there, but still puts in the work while you sleep.

Adding the extra serum boost

Everyone acts like serums are stupid extras that don’t do anything… Let me tell you sugar, your 50 year old skin will thank you for investing in some hyaluronic acid and a good vitamin C serum. Even adding some simple essential oils can really crank up how hard your skincare works. Plus none of these smell bad so at least you have some good scents on your face!

I do go a little easier on my skin in the morning. I usually just wash it after the gym and put a light moisturizer on with SPF in it before I put on my makeup. I think great skin is made at night time and I’ve seen the results over the years. My skin is very important to me and I hope if you struggle with your skin, this can give you the help you need!

Cheers!

Amazon Clothing Review

This idea came out of my laziness, I really hate going to the mall. The mall I like is 30 minutes away from my apartment and it takes a long time to go through each store and try clothes on, so I usually skip this for online shopping. Online shopping is easy for me because I can find what I want quickly and get it shipped right to me, but that’s not always the best solution when I need something quickly. Amazon does Prime shipping on the majority of their clothing items so I wanted to see if this would be a good fix for all my ladies out there who are just as lazy as I am!

I’m lucky that my apartment building also has an Amazon store attached, so getting clothes from Amazon literally took a day. I ordered 5 pieces all varying in price. I tried to keep them under $30, but I splurged for a pair of Levi’s jeans because they cost about the same as what I pay for my jeans from American Eagle (which I swear by) and I wanted to see if they compared.

The first thing I ordered was a stripped and floral sundress with off the shoulder sleeves. This was the worst of my options because the thing didn’t even fit. It was $17.99 and the sizing chart said I should order a large. It did fit over my body, but it was totally unflattering and the material was really thin and cheap feeling, so I scratched that whole piece.

The first outfit I really love is this cheetah print look. This long cardigan is so soft and comfy! It works great for dressing up or dressing down and goes great with the Levi’s jeans I tried out. The sweater does run a bit big. I normally wear a large and this felt oversized to me, but it still worked fine. It also has an unfinished seam along the sides of the cardigan and I didn’t like that look. The jeans are so soft! They are so cute and they’re the perfect wash for spring and summer. They have a small amount of distress on them and they are the perfect length to wear with heels. The reviews said to size up because they run small so I got a 31 over my normal 30 and they were perfect! These may have given my AE jeans a run for their money.
Cardigan: $27.99
Jeans: $40.99

The next piece was this teal dress with a front tie. This dress was a 50/50 for me. The color was beautiful and the material was thick and stretchy, but the fit was somewhat strange. The dress is cut very straight so if you have curves, this dress may give you some complications. There was not a lot of length, even with the large, so it got even shorter when it had to go over my butt. I tried tying the tie in the back as well, this made the dress EVEN SHORTER and it was just really unflattering on me. I bought a large and would say it’s true to size. I would recommend this dress for someone like my sister who is a little skinny mini. If you’re a small or medium and have some big curves, this dress will not work for you, so my curvy girls, stick to something else.
Dress: $22.99

The final piece was this navy, polka dot dress. This dress gave me life when I saw it on Amazon. I loved it so much I had to have it. I got a large again, which I thought would be too big based on the sizing chart and it was very snug. I could fit in it and move, but not move too much without fear I was going to rip a seam. It didn’t seem like a very sturdy dress, so I would recommend sizing up just for a little extra room to move. Fun fact: I almost busted the seam in the back trying to put my heels on with it. The ruffles give it that fun, flirty look, and the polka dots are going to be a huge trend this spring so this dress would work great. Also, be wary of the underside of the waist ruffle is almost white, so when it flips up, it looks strange. Regardless of these things, you will totally be catching me in this dress soon.
Dress: $22.99

Overall, I would say Amazon should be a last resort for clothes. I found some good stuff, but the sizing is very strange, especially if you’re a curvy girl. Amazon has a really wide variety of designer and luxury pieces as well, but for someone like me, I’m not looking to spend a lot of money, so it’s a hit or miss. I may just make the trek to the mall still, but I’m definitely going to buy more Levi’s from now on!

Valentines Day Look Book

With Valentines day coming up, I figured we all have mixed feelings about the holiday. For some people, this holiday is a day to share the love you have for your significant other. For others, it is a forgotten day filled with work, to-do lists, and life’s obligations. Regardless of if you have a significant other or not, I want to give you some ideas on how to make the most of February 14th and some adorable looks to wear for the occasion.

Let’s start with the best way to celebrate Valentines day, with your girlfriends! Galentines day is so popular now and I’m all about it. I really don’t understand why there isn’t another day of the year when you show your friends how much you love and appreciate them, so what better a day than Valentines day?! Get your girlfriends together for a casual brunch, wine and cheese night, or just a fun dinner. It wouldn’t hurt either to get them all little gifts; maybe a card, some cute valentines socks, and some chocolate. Who wouldn’t love that?

Your girlfriends love you ugly crying in your sweat pants and they love having you do their makeup, so keep it casual. We all love to get a little dressed up so I found the perfect wrap dress for the occasion from American Eagle. The red keeps it in the spirit of love, but the pattern and fit keep it casual and fun. You could also throw a jacket over this to keep warm since it’s still freezing outside now a days. I’m wearing an XL for some added length, but the wrap of the dress allowed me to pull it into my waist more. My necklace is also from Forever 21 and the wine is from my kitchen.

The next way to you could spend the day of love is with the one you love; the classic Valentines day night out. My advice for this is always book ahead. And don’t rely on your man to make the plans! You are a grown woman you can plan the date you want to go on. That way you can guarantee you’ll like where you’re going and you’ll be better prepared for what to wear. Your valentines day date shouldn’t be about surprises or fancy gifts or expensive meals. It should be about spending time with the one you love and celebrating the love you have for one another.

If I’m being honest, John and I will probably end up going to one of those places where you can bowl and eat dinner and I will not end up looking this nice, but it’s something we both will love and honestly I want to beat him at bowling.

This dress… omg this dress makes me swoon! It is so stylish and comfortable, super sexy, and it’s from Alter’d State. It has slits in the bottom to show a little leg as you walk, but it also has a nice v neck to show off some cleavage. This dress isn’t a wrap dress, but it is very stretchy and fits true to size. It will work perfect for the fancy dinner date out. It even has a hint of red in the stripes to hint at the valentines day theme. You could also switch out the heels for some short black booties to keep your toes warm when you go out. Keep it simple with a little clutch bag and some cute earrings and enjoy your night out. You deserve it.

The last kind of date on Valentines day is the best kind of date. It’s a date with yourself. Like I said in the beginning, Valentines day doesn’t have to be spent with people (who likes people these days?). It can be spent with yourself practicing some self love. I think we all forget that self love is the most important kind of love to practice. You can’t expect someone else to love you if you can’t love yourself. So enjoy your evening watching your favorite movie, doing a face mask, curled up in pajamas with a glass of wine (and with a puppy or kitty if you have one) and enjoy. Life is hard and days are hard and we have to remember that there’s always time for yourself, even if it’s just one day a year.

Finn loves to lay on the bed so he was less than enthused when I wanted to interrupt his napping to take this photo. I threw on my absolute favorite Lululemon joggers and the best Arie sweatshirt (which is always linked in my favorites, but I will link it here again). The maroon color keeps you from noticing if you spill wine on yourself and keeps you warm and cozy with the fleece inside. I’m wearing a size medium in the top; these fit big so I would size down. The pants are a size 12 for a little extra baggy fit. I normally wear a 10 at Lululemon.

Whatever you end up doing this Valentines day, I hope it fills your day with love and happiness. I hope you not only feel love on Valentines day, but every day and I hope you share that love out into the world. And I also hope you buy some of these cute outfits and share them with me if you wear them! @clarissa_fuller5

An Insider On Francesca's Collection

For those of you who don’t know what Francesca’s is, it’s a chain boutique. They have over 670 stores around 48 states and they sell clothing, jewelry, accessories, and little knick knacks as well. Although it is a large chain store, every store is meant to feel like a small town boutique with a unique and fun experience. I’ve worked at Francesca’s for a year now and I thought I would share some of my inside scoops on the store from an employee!

What It’s Like To Work At Francesca’s

Francesca’s is an amazing place to work if you love people. I have loved every second of working for this company over the past year. They really care about their staff and they give back to us all the time. From upper management to my main bosses in the boutiques I’ve worked in, they have all been great to me.

Now, this job isn’t as easy as working at other clothing stores (to my knowledge). We do a ton of training with how to engage and connect with all of our customers to make sure that they have an amazing experience every time they come into the store. Sometimes this is kind of weird and uncomfortable (especially for someone who can be super strange and awkward like me), but it honestly makes you a better associate and a better person as well. We are taught to be kind of pushy with getting to know you and that’s something I don’t always enjoy because I know there are lots of people out there who just don’t want to be bothered when they shop and we understand that, but we still try our best to make conversation and help you with anything you need. It’s a fine line that takes time to learn when not to cross it, but like I said, we do a ton of training to teach us about it.

Another thing I’m not a fan of is the fact that we wear the stores jewelry when we work. This is a cool idea to showcase what it looks like on and bring attention to it, but then it’s like buying a used piece of jewelry. We clean it everyday after we wear it, but it still bothers me a little knowing I wore something someone just bought.

Something a lot of people don’t believe about working at Francesca’s is most of the associates won’t lie to you ever. If you ask for their opinion on what you tried on, they’ll tell you exactly what they think (or at least I will). They also will help you figure out how to save the most money or help you find an affordable option. We are taught that our guest is 110% our priority and they need to be happy. That doesn’t mean we talk you into spending $300 on stuff you don’t want. We don’t judge you for only shopping the clearance rack or asking us how much your bill will be and then changing your mind when it’s too much. We want you to love what you got and be happy that you bought it for what you wanted to spend.

Something really cool about the store is they get new shipment in everyday so there is always new stuff coming in! This is cool for clothing, but sometimes they ship us 10 mugs that say Gangster Napper and we all look at each other like “what is happening?”

Overall, I love my job at Francesca’s and I try my best to do the best job I can while working there. I know some days I come into work and it’s hard for me to talk to people or I look like I’m half asleep, but you have to understand everyday is different and some days you just aren’t on your game, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try my best to do my job.

What Are The Best Deals?

Honestly, I get asked this a lot by people who love to shop at our store and I don’t mind telling people because I want everyone to get a good deal on the stuff they buy. Some people never shop at Francesca’s because they say its expensive, but they don’t realize that their stuff is on sale ALL THE TIME!

The best deal I’ve ever seen them do on clothing was if you bought 3 or more items, they all dropped down to $20! This is an AMAZING DEAL!! If you bought all $48 dresses, you would save over 58% on your entire purchase…. thats crazy!

The best deal overall is definitely their friends and family sale. This is where everything in the entire store is BOGO (buy one, get one) 60% off. This is especially great for what we consider “gift” items. This is things like coffee mugs, trinket dishes, wall art, box signs, random rubber dinosaurs (don’t ask me why we sell some of the stuff we sell). This stuff almost NEVER goes on sale so it’s a great time to stock up on it for little gifts to keep around or for more stuff in your room that you don’t need, but want.

Other sales that are great are when they have sales like $20 white dresses or $25 fashion tops. They change it up all the time, but these sales cover a wide range of clothing and they can bring the price down over 30% sometimes. If you’re confused about if something you like is include in the sale, just ask someone!

On top of this, jewelry is almost always BOGO 50% and clothing, jewelry, accessories, and shoes have the same deal a lot too. This is a sale that occurs a lot that’s a pretty good deal that you can usually wait around for if you have something coming up and need an outfit. Also sometimes you can include clearance items in the BOGO and save even more money so watch out for that as well!

The deals we run that you should stay away from…. obviously no sales… This is a rarity in our stores and I really hate when people come in during this time and spend money because WE HAVE SALES 95% OF THE TIME! Just wait a little bit and come back when a new sale comes around! The BOGO 40% off sale is not my favorite. I know its only a 10% difference from the other sale but, it’s the lowest sale we do and if you can wait, the BOGO 50% will come back around.

What Are Some Of My Favorite Pieces?

I have shopped at Francesca’s for many years. One of the main reasons I got a job here was because it’s my favorite clothing store. I love it so much because it really reflects my style, but it also includes so many other styles. They also have tons of outfits for anything from leggings and a t-shirt to prom dresses (only online though), but seriously they have it all.

*little side note, Francesca’s changes out their clothing all the time. Sometimes pieces can be gone in a few weeks and they never restock them so most of these pieces are unavailable for purchase, but that’s part of what I love about the store; every piece is unique and only a few people have what you have.*

This is an oldie, but such a goodie! I bought this a long time ago in hopes of one day wearing it to the Kentucky Derby…needless to say I have never done that, but I have worn it to formal events and fancy dinners (I actually wore it out to dinner when John met all my family for the first time) and I love it. I love the flower detail and how the top is separated from the bottom to give it a little added dimension. I also have on a necklace and earrings from Francesca’s that are hard to see, but I snagged them both on clearance and adore them!

Next is another “fancy” dress I got a few years back for my senior pictures that I love. It’s got a soft, chevron patterned top that is so so comfortable and then the skirt is really thick and sleek. I think its classy and elegant and this dress remains a staple piece in my closet. I added some gold and coral earrings again from Francesca’s and on clearance (clearance jewelry is where it’s at my friends).

Now this is a new favorite of mine I just got about a month ago when the store was having a $20 sleeveless top sale! I adore this top so much I can’t even explain it. It has a giant bow in the back that I’m obsessed with and it makes my boobs look phenomenal! If I stand wrong it can make me look pregnant, but its give and take right? This purse is another favorite of mine from the store. We sell some nice handbags that I think are worth the money. I own 2 large ones like this brown one and a smaller side bag and a little wristlet and I love them all. This brown one has definitely taken the most beatings of them all, but it still looks bomb and works perfect for me. These jeans aren’t from Francesca’s, but we do sell a pair that looks the exact same they’re just dark jean colored. The layered necklace is a new trend at Francesca’s. They have tons of thin, dainty necklaces that are absolutely fabulous that you should definitely check out. Also if you love chokers they are literally drowning in chokers, it’s so crazy I can’t even explain how many chokers I’ve seen since working at Francesca’s.

This is an outfit I would definitely, and probably have, worn to work. This white top was a signiture top for awhile back in the spring that we had in tons of colors and patterns and I only got it in white and I regret it so much. It’s so soft and comfy and I love that it’s a plain shirt, but it’s got a little something extra. My jeans are also from Francesca’s, but I have to say I’m not a huge fan of their jeans. Yes they are super comfy and stretchy, but they are too short for me. I’m 5’8 and I usually buy long length jeans and Francesca’s has a very small size range and no length variation in their jeans so this is the only pair I own. This necklace is kind of heavy, but I love to wear it as a pop of color with white and again… clearance baby.

This dress is made of a material called cupro. It’s so so soft and we sell tons of it! This t-shirt dress used to be another signature that we had in lots of colors and I love it because I can throw it on with some sandals and BOOM I have a whole outfit. The only downside is it hardcore shows when I sweat, which if often. These necklaces are separate, but they came as a pack of 2 and they’re my go-to plain gold necklaces that work for almost everything. This is one of the few pairs of shoes I own from Francesca’s as well. I don’t buy a lot of their shoes because we have to have shoes with backs on them for work so I can’t wear these too often and a lot of their shoes aren’t super practical to be standing in for 4+ hours at a time, but these were so darn cute I had to get them!

Francesca’s also sells a ton of comfy tees and sweaters. This is my favorite sweater to just throw on with some leggings and chill in. Its super soft inside and I bought it wayyyy too big for extra comfort. Francesca’s also has great leggings that go on sale a lot in the fall and winter, but they can be a little see through so be careful!

Finally, we have this bikini. I do also own the bottoms to this, but I didn’t wanna be in a full blown bikini because yikes… but I think this is the first year Francesca’s did swim, but I’m not sure. They did a lot of funky bathing suits, but I only got this one and I loved it so much this summer. In the summer I basically live in bikinis and I beat the crap out of them and this one held up so well. I also love that it was high neck because I burn on my chest all the time and it helps prevent that.

I need to take a moment to explain to you my full appreciation for the hat I’m wearing in this picture… This is probably my all time favorite hat and I got it on sale for $15 and I wear it non stop! It says “Bad Hair Day” on it and has a cute little aztec pattern band in the back and I just love it to death. I also mentioned it in my post about my beach day essentials because I literally don’t go anywhere without this hat.

I’m so greatful to have worked at Francesca’s for this long and all the wonderful people and experiences I’ve had there. I love the clothes, I love the job, I love everything about it and I hope you check out a store or even check them out online! I hope you love it as much as I do!

My Ride or Die Lush Products

I am a huge fan of Lush products. I’m a big advocate for natural products and I love that they are a cruelty free company! They’re very charitable and support lots of great causes such as helping the environment, ending animal testing, and community enrichment, but that’s not the only reason I love LUSH. LUSH makes some really amazing, quality products that are essential to my everyday routine that I needed to share.

The first product is their Tea Tree Water. This is a toner water that is great for people who have oily skin (like me)! I added a toner to my daily skin routine about a year ago and it’s something I feel necessary now to get my skin REALLY clean when I wash my face. I use my everyday face wash and then spray on the toner afterwards to get out any excess makeup or dirt that was left behind. I also love that this toner has tea tree oil in it, which is an essential oil that I put on my breakouts to help reduce redness and disinfect them.

The next product from LUSH that I use everyday is Ocean Salt and I seriously could not live without this stuff! I’ve used this for over a year now consistently to exfoliate my face and it not only helps my skin, but it just makes my heart happy. I’m so obsessed with sand and the salty air of the beach so rubbing this on my face every night makes me miss the beautiful skin I get in the summer time! It’s made with sea salt, softening avocado, lime, and vodka. You rub it into your skin before using your face wash to clear off dead skin and open up your pores. I use this on my feet too when they need a little TLC, but this is *for sure* a favorite of mine!

The last product that I am ride or die for from LUSH is Roots! I got this product because I was tired of my hair going flat throughout the day when I straightened it and I wanted something to give it more volume naturally without me having to put tons of hairspray in or what have you. Roots is a hair treatment that you rub on your scalp before you get in the shower and it does wonders for my hair! It smells like mint and its so soft when you rub it on your scalp! You just rub it all over the roots of your hair for 5-10 minutes and then you hop in the shower and wash it out and wash your hair like normal! Now, I also have a naturally dry scalp (can I just say how annoying it is that I have oily skin on my face and a dry scalp like seriously how on earth did this happen? Thanks Mom) but I have very thick, heavy hair. Roots not only conditions my scalp, it softens my hair, and makes it feel more lightweight. Now, I can’t say it does wonders on giving my hair more volume, but I love it for so many other reasons. I recommended this to my mom who has very thin, fine hair, but she has yet to try it, but once she does I will definitely let my thin haired gals know if it helps!

All of these products work great for me, but everybody is so so different so they may not work as great for you, but I really do hope you give them a try! I have used many LUSH products and have had success with some and complete fails with others which is totally normal! LUSH is such an amazing company and I really do believe in their products and what they stand for. You know your money is going to a good cause and I highly recommend you check out more of what they do and what they stand for. I will leave links to all the products mentioned down below and make sure to let me know what products you recommend for me from LUSH as well! I always love to try new things and hear other peoples experiences and recommendation! Hope y’all check it out!

First Impressions: Drug Store MakeUp Finds

I’m all about saving money, so when I hear drug store brands are pumping out some amazing products, COUNT. ME. IN! Manny MUA is one of my favorite YouTube makeup artists and he did a few videos with full face makeup tutorials with all drugstore brands and he had a really good experience with many of the products. I really dig when he does these because my skin type is very similar to his (oily to combination). Obviously, I’m not a famous makeup artist *yet* (I CAN DREAM PEOPLE) so I didn’t get a ton of makeup, but I got a good amount and I had pretty great experience with it all.

First I got the Maybelline Fit Me! matte and poreless foundation in 3 shades because I’m going to get a spray tan soon, but since I’m pasty white right now, I tried the lightest shade I bought first which was 110 porcelain. I also bought 115 Ivory and 220 Natural Beige. I tried to put it on with my morphe M439 like I used to put on my hourglass stick foundation. That didn’t work so hot for me. I felt like it gave me a very light/medium coverage, which is not my style. I decided to try and dab it on my face with the brush in little circles and this worked *SO* much better. I then went over this with a damp beauty blender and it looked really beautiful!

Next I added some concealer on top that I already owned and then set my whole face with the Fit Me! matte and poreless pressed powder in the shade 120 classic ivory using the e.l.f complexion brush. I felt like I had to really use a lot of product to get the results I wanted, but I really didn’t mind because the powder was so cheap.

Following this, I used the Wet n Wild blush in the shade 328B Mellow Wine for my cheeks and also applied this with the e.l.f complexion brush. This went on beautifully and blended very nicely into the skin. One thing I personally really love to look for in blushes is that they aren’t super pigmented. I wanna be able to put by brush in it on the first try and not have to think about it. It aways happens to me where I get so excited about new makeup and I do swatch my make up *sometimes* but let’s be honest sometimes I just get too excited and put my brush in it and BOOM… clown cheeks. Luckily, this was not the case with the Wet and Wild.

After the blush, I went in with my usual bronzer and light highlight, just to finish off my face to have a complete face look. I looked for bronzers, but they didn’t have the shades I wanted to complement my fair complexion so I moved on to some eye makeup. Now, I have never done winged eye liner in my life…

I know, its tragic, please pick your jaw up. I know, I’m very embarrassed. I have very big eyes and I’ve always been very self-conscious about them and I think winged eyeliner doesn’t compliment them. I decided it was time to get over my fear and give it a go so I got the Wet n Wild felt tip eyeliner in black and this thing is Ah-Maze-Balls. Before I put this on I threw on a little light brown eyeshadow and some glitter first just so my eyes weren’t naked. The eyeliner was super easy to use and it went on BLACK. Like really black. I found it super easy for a fist timer so get yourself one of these. The best part? Its less than $6

To finish off the look I grabbed a magaslicks lip gloss from Wet n Wild as well in the shade 556B Sun Glaze. First I tried it on its own and it wasn’t going on smooth. It had this really neat peach, metallic color to it, but it just wasn’t giving me what I wanted. I then put my Kylie Cosmetics lip liner on underneath in the shade KoKo K and looked much nicer. Still wasn’t a super huge fan, but maybe I’ll use it again.

Overall, I think my makeup came out awesome! I put in some close up pictures so you can see if the foundation and powder live up to what they’re supposed to do, which is keep your skin from getting oily and make your pores disappear. I wore the foundation again today all day and it held up AWESOME! I had a long day and it was hot outside and I tend to touch my face a lot during class so I would highly recommend this to anyone who has oily skin and is looking for a cheap, awesome foundation and powder. Small note: My forehead was oily by the end of the day, but this happens to me no matter what. You really do have to do some touch ups to your face/makeup throughout the day if you want it to stay truly flawless, but us ladies are out here getting things done and working hard, we don’t have time for all that.

As always, I encourage you to try this out, but remember you do not need makeup to feel beautiful in your own skin. You are beautiful from deep inside and it radiates outward. Thanks for reading!

The Bath Bomb for People Who Hate Baths

Okay, so I don’t know if this is just me, but I can’t stand taking baths. They freak me out! The whole time I’m sitting in the bathtub, all I can think about is all the dirt I’m sitting in (and I’m a very clean person), so I avoid taking baths as much as possible. I know bath bombs are super popular and why wouldn’t they be?! They’re beautiful and relaxing and add wonderful things to your bathwater for you to soak in, but I can’t put myself through that torture.

Then, when I went on vacation to Savannah, my whole life got flipped turned upside down (you see what I did there?) We checked out this store called Nourish which was sponsored by the trolly tour we went on through the city and they had these things called shower steamers. I herd one of the ladies who worked in the store explaining what they were to an older gentleman and his wife and it grabbed my attention right away!

The packaging that comes with them also explains what they are and how they work. It says, “Enjoy aromatherapy benefits of pure essential oils with Nourish Shower Steamers.”

So basically what you do place the little shower steamer on the floor of ur shower where some water is going to hit it, but it won’t be in the direct line of the water from the shower head and you get the shower really hot and BAM! You have yourself an at home aromatherapy session.

I tried out the Mint Julep one when I got sick about two weeks ago and it made me feel amazing. It helped relieve my headache and stiffness along with helping me feel overall relaxed. They last a long time in the shower and they don’t make a huge mess. This is a huge game changed for me!

If you want to check them out, you can go to their website linked at the bottom of this post and check out all of their homemade products and support a small business all at the same time!

Hope you get a chance to try these out for yourself!
