My Ride or Die Lush Products

I am a huge fan of Lush products. I’m a big advocate for natural products and I love that they are a cruelty free company! They’re very charitable and support lots of great causes such as helping the environment, ending animal testing, and community enrichment, but that’s not the only reason I love LUSH. LUSH makes some really amazing, quality products that are essential to my everyday routine that I needed to share.

The first product is their Tea Tree Water. This is a toner water that is great for people who have oily skin (like me)! I added a toner to my daily skin routine about a year ago and it’s something I feel necessary now to get my skin REALLY clean when I wash my face. I use my everyday face wash and then spray on the toner afterwards to get out any excess makeup or dirt that was left behind. I also love that this toner has tea tree oil in it, which is an essential oil that I put on my breakouts to help reduce redness and disinfect them.

The next product from LUSH that I use everyday is Ocean Salt and I seriously could not live without this stuff! I’ve used this for over a year now consistently to exfoliate my face and it not only helps my skin, but it just makes my heart happy. I’m so obsessed with sand and the salty air of the beach so rubbing this on my face every night makes me miss the beautiful skin I get in the summer time! It’s made with sea salt, softening avocado, lime, and vodka. You rub it into your skin before using your face wash to clear off dead skin and open up your pores. I use this on my feet too when they need a little TLC, but this is *for sure* a favorite of mine!

The last product that I am ride or die for from LUSH is Roots! I got this product because I was tired of my hair going flat throughout the day when I straightened it and I wanted something to give it more volume naturally without me having to put tons of hairspray in or what have you. Roots is a hair treatment that you rub on your scalp before you get in the shower and it does wonders for my hair! It smells like mint and its so soft when you rub it on your scalp! You just rub it all over the roots of your hair for 5-10 minutes and then you hop in the shower and wash it out and wash your hair like normal! Now, I also have a naturally dry scalp (can I just say how annoying it is that I have oily skin on my face and a dry scalp like seriously how on earth did this happen? Thanks Mom) but I have very thick, heavy hair. Roots not only conditions my scalp, it softens my hair, and makes it feel more lightweight. Now, I can’t say it does wonders on giving my hair more volume, but I love it for so many other reasons. I recommended this to my mom who has very thin, fine hair, but she has yet to try it, but once she does I will definitely let my thin haired gals know if it helps!

All of these products work great for me, but everybody is so so different so they may not work as great for you, but I really do hope you give them a try! I have used many LUSH products and have had success with some and complete fails with others which is totally normal! LUSH is such an amazing company and I really do believe in their products and what they stand for. You know your money is going to a good cause and I highly recommend you check out more of what they do and what they stand for. I will leave links to all the products mentioned down below and make sure to let me know what products you recommend for me from LUSH as well! I always love to try new things and hear other peoples experiences and recommendation! Hope y’all check it out!

Tea Tree Water:

The Bath Bomb for People Who Hate Baths

Okay, so I don’t know if this is just me, but I can’t stand taking baths. They freak me out! The whole time I’m sitting in the bathtub, all I can think about is all the dirt I’m sitting in (and I’m a very clean person), so I avoid taking baths as much as possible. I know bath bombs are super popular and why wouldn’t they be?! They’re beautiful and relaxing and add wonderful things to your bathwater for you to soak in, but I can’t put myself through that torture.

Then, when I went on vacation to Savannah, my whole life got flipped turned upside down (you see what I did there?) We checked out this store called Nourish which was sponsored by the trolly tour we went on through the city and they had these things called shower steamers. I herd one of the ladies who worked in the store explaining what they were to an older gentleman and his wife and it grabbed my attention right away!

The packaging that comes with them also explains what they are and how they work. It says, “Enjoy aromatherapy benefits of pure essential oils with Nourish Shower Steamers.”

So basically what you do place the little shower steamer on the floor of ur shower where some water is going to hit it, but it won’t be in the direct line of the water from the shower head and you get the shower really hot and BAM! You have yourself an at home aromatherapy session.

I tried out the Mint Julep one when I got sick about two weeks ago and it made me feel amazing. It helped relieve my headache and stiffness along with helping me feel overall relaxed. They last a long time in the shower and they don’t make a huge mess. This is a huge game changed for me!

If you want to check them out, you can go to their website linked at the bottom of this post and check out all of their homemade products and support a small business all at the same time!

Hope you get a chance to try these out for yourself!

Why Makeup Everyday is a No-No

During the week, I wear makeup between 4-6 days a week but I will NEVER wear makeup everyday of the week. Now that doesn’t mean that I go in public with my sleepy eyes all natural for the whole world to see. No one wants to see that (honestly I just feel better with a tiny bit on). On a normal day, I’ll put on a whole face of makeup. That consists of primer, foundation, concealer, setting powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, bronzer, blush, and highlighter. On other days, I like to just let my skin breath. I read this quote from Victoria Beckham once where a reporter asked her if she could give advice to 20 year old her, what would she say? The first thing she said was, “Don’t wear so much makeup. Let your skin breath. You’re so young.”

That really stuck with me because I thought, well, I’m 20 and I wear a lot of makeup almost everyday solely because I felt like I had to in order to look good. Now, days where I have to get up really early or I have an exam or I just don’t have lots to do I put on my tinted moisturizer, eyeliner, and mascara… THATS IT!

I can’t advocate and be like, “Omg this has changed my skin! It makes it absolutely perfect and wonderful!” because it doesn’t. I have really temperamental skin so days like today when I didn’t wear makeup because I had an exam, my skin is so oily I look like a greased pig, but tonight I’ll do a face mask to try and help that. I think this is a really give and take process, but I genuinely believe that older me will thank me for letting my skin breath now.
