Amazon Clothing Review

This idea came out of my laziness, I really hate going to the mall. The mall I like is 30 minutes away from my apartment and it takes a long time to go through each store and try clothes on, so I usually skip this for online shopping. Online shopping is easy for me because I can find what I want quickly and get it shipped right to me, but that’s not always the best solution when I need something quickly. Amazon does Prime shipping on the majority of their clothing items so I wanted to see if this would be a good fix for all my ladies out there who are just as lazy as I am!

I’m lucky that my apartment building also has an Amazon store attached, so getting clothes from Amazon literally took a day. I ordered 5 pieces all varying in price. I tried to keep them under $30, but I splurged for a pair of Levi’s jeans because they cost about the same as what I pay for my jeans from American Eagle (which I swear by) and I wanted to see if they compared.

The first thing I ordered was a stripped and floral sundress with off the shoulder sleeves. This was the worst of my options because the thing didn’t even fit. It was $17.99 and the sizing chart said I should order a large. It did fit over my body, but it was totally unflattering and the material was really thin and cheap feeling, so I scratched that whole piece.

The first outfit I really love is this cheetah print look. This long cardigan is so soft and comfy! It works great for dressing up or dressing down and goes great with the Levi’s jeans I tried out. The sweater does run a bit big. I normally wear a large and this felt oversized to me, but it still worked fine. It also has an unfinished seam along the sides of the cardigan and I didn’t like that look. The jeans are so soft! They are so cute and they’re the perfect wash for spring and summer. They have a small amount of distress on them and they are the perfect length to wear with heels. The reviews said to size up because they run small so I got a 31 over my normal 30 and they were perfect! These may have given my AE jeans a run for their money.
Cardigan: $27.99
Jeans: $40.99

The next piece was this teal dress with a front tie. This dress was a 50/50 for me. The color was beautiful and the material was thick and stretchy, but the fit was somewhat strange. The dress is cut very straight so if you have curves, this dress may give you some complications. There was not a lot of length, even with the large, so it got even shorter when it had to go over my butt. I tried tying the tie in the back as well, this made the dress EVEN SHORTER and it was just really unflattering on me. I bought a large and would say it’s true to size. I would recommend this dress for someone like my sister who is a little skinny mini. If you’re a small or medium and have some big curves, this dress will not work for you, so my curvy girls, stick to something else.
Dress: $22.99

The final piece was this navy, polka dot dress. This dress gave me life when I saw it on Amazon. I loved it so much I had to have it. I got a large again, which I thought would be too big based on the sizing chart and it was very snug. I could fit in it and move, but not move too much without fear I was going to rip a seam. It didn’t seem like a very sturdy dress, so I would recommend sizing up just for a little extra room to move. Fun fact: I almost busted the seam in the back trying to put my heels on with it. The ruffles give it that fun, flirty look, and the polka dots are going to be a huge trend this spring so this dress would work great. Also, be wary of the underside of the waist ruffle is almost white, so when it flips up, it looks strange. Regardless of these things, you will totally be catching me in this dress soon.
Dress: $22.99

Overall, I would say Amazon should be a last resort for clothes. I found some good stuff, but the sizing is very strange, especially if you’re a curvy girl. Amazon has a really wide variety of designer and luxury pieces as well, but for someone like me, I’m not looking to spend a lot of money, so it’s a hit or miss. I may just make the trek to the mall still, but I’m definitely going to buy more Levi’s from now on!

Best Buys: Winter Clothes

If you’re like me, you’re always looking for a great deal, and right now is a great time to get some deals on clothes! Right now retailers are starting to get in their spring clothes, which means they are moving out their winter ones. Lucky for us, it’s going to be winter for another few months in the north. Although currently it’s 40ยบ outside here (which to me is not that cold) theres a ton of winter outfits still to be worn and there are tons of great deals going on right now if you’re looking for some fresh finds in your closet! Click on any of the images below to shop some of my favorite pieces on sale now!

Right now, LOFT is doing a mystery flash sale where you can get 50% off of your purchase plus an extra $25 off if you sign up for emails!

A few of my favorite finds from there new stuff is linked below!

This jump suit is perfect for styling now and into the spring. It’s chic and simple and will look great with booties and a jacket or simple sandals once it gets warmer out .

This grey turtleneck sweater will get you through to the end of the year looking stylish and if you’re like me, the pockets will keep you from losing your credit card and phone.

I have a feeling red is going to be a hot spring color, plus i just love red because ya know GO TERPS! but if you want something a little less bright this top also comes in black and is so feminine and cute. It would look great with dress pants for work and then tucked in to a leather skirt for a night out!

GAP is a really underrated store in my opinion if you like to dress with basic pieces that can work with lots of outfits. They sell great quality clothing and they are always having sales so I always check to see what they have going on. They also have sizes for petites and talls, which is great! I’m 5’8 but I have a long torso so getting tall tops is really nice. Right now they have some great winter pieces in their sale section and they also are doing 40% off your purchase!

This is a more light weight turtleneck that would look great under dresses or jackets to keep warm for the rest of the winter season. It’s much more high neck than the one from LOFT, which some people don’t like but it’s always nice to have options. It comes in a bunch of colors and is going quick so i recommend getting it while it’s available.

This sweater OMG it just reminds me of the beach so much and I LOVE it! It comes in a cream and a grey/tan as well, but this blue is so pretty to me. In the spring and summer I love to wear cardigans with simple white tanks underneath and this would be perfect for those slightly warmer spring nights or perfect now with jeans and a cute v neck underneath.

I cannot express to you guys how much I love my GAP jean jacket. I have a light wash distressed one as well as i white one so why no add a metal studded one to the mix?! This darker wash denim will work well into the spring and the metal stud details all over make the jacket have that little extra something. I’m not a huge fan of denim on denim like they have it styled in the photo, but I will wear blue denim with other colored jeans such as black, white, burgundy, etc. This would also be perfect over a dress because it will still give you some shape because the jacket hits at the waist line instead of the hips.

I wish I could express how much I am obsessed with Arie by American Eagle. I like the clothes from AE, but I LOVE the clothes form Arie. A lot of us miss out on their clothes because we only think about the fact that they sell bras and underwear, but they have SO MANY cute staple pieces in my wardrobe that I couldn’t share with you the things they have on sale right now

This cardigan is VERY OVERSIZED and i love it like that. It lays so nice and is simple and great for all seasons of the year and currently it’s on sale for $22!!! It also comes in grey if some of y’all are feelin that for the wintery seasons right now as well.

These are the best “I gotta run errands” or “i’m not moving today” pants! boot cut, which i prefer in the winter because it helps keep chilly winds off your ankles if you’re making a run to home goods, but it also switches it up from your normal yoga pants. They also come in long sizes for my tall girls out there.

This sweater/sweatshirt is one of my favorite things I own because it’s so diverse. I can dress it up with black jeans and some booties and a long necklace; maybe a neck scarf and head out to dinner. Or I can wear it with leggings and lay in bed all day. Its perfect for any occasion and is $23. I can also tell you they hold up super well in the wash because I think I’ve worn mine about 800 times already in the time I’ve owned it.

I hope you guys find some good stuff to hold you over until the pastels come out in the spring soon! And don’t forget to check out my shop page where I always update my favorite clothing pieces at the time!

Fall Lookbook

With the weather cooling down and pumpkin spice popping up everywhere, it’s hard not to think about big scarves, flannels, and riding boots. Fall fashion is one of my favorites; mainly because you don’t ever have to workout and eat right to get your fall “sweater bod”. It’s the time of year you can indulge yourself in mounds of hot apple cider and pumpkin pie, and love every second of it. Here are some of my go-to outfits for the cool fall weather coming our way.

The Fall Classic

Of course we have to start with a good old fashion fall look. Flannels always work great under vests for cooler days spent outdoors. It’s thick enough to keep you warm, but not as thick as a jacket. I love to pair this with a pair of sleek dark jeans. These are my ride or die skinny jeans from American Eagle that I LIVE for. To finish off the outfit, I’ll put on a cute pair of boots. I love these caramel booties from Francesca’s, but I wear this outfit with knee high riding boots, or even duck boots if I’m going to be outside and want my feet to stay warm.

Sunday Brunch

This is a great outfit if you have an occasion where you want to get dressed up, but it’s not a “dressey” occasion. I love to wear outfits like this to Sunday brunch or on a casual dinner date. I think it’s super versatile and can work for a ton of different occasions. I paired this big fluffy vest with a flirty, lightweight blouse so you don’t get super hot if you’re wearing this indoors for extended periods of time. I kept it simple with the jeans because I didn’t want the outfit to feel too busy; I wanted to keep it sleek and classy. For shoes, I chose some cute bootie heels for a flirty finished look. I also think this would be great with dark brown boots or regular heels.

On The Go

This is an easy fall outfit if you want to throw something together fast and still give off those pumpkin spice vibes. The bones of this outfit are a plain brown shirt with ripped jeans and riding boots. All I did was add this long, army green jacket and a big blanket scarf. It’s a really good example of how you can make or break an outfit with accessories. The best part about this outfit is you can add a different scarf or jacket or boots and wear it again the next week. It’s super simple, but still a whole new look.

Keep it Casual

This is another great option for keeping it simple. For me, it’s one of those “day-to-night” outfits that makes my life so much easier. The long, wool sweater is such a classic piece that adds a little extra something to a boring, everyday outfit. I also love that I can change the jewelry on this outfit, and transform it completely. In this picture, I had on a long, beaded wrap bracelet and a pendant necklace (that got lost in my shirt in this picture). I could easily switch it to some hoop earrings and a choker and “glam” it up more. Some times you have to remember keeping it simple isn’t such a bad idea.

Girls Night Out

I love when fall rolls around because I love to wear my thigh high boots! I got these form ALDO last winter after months of looking for the perfect pair, and you best believe I found them. They’re the perfect combination of sleek and sexy and I live for them. For my fall “going out” outfits, I love to mix dresses and thigh high boots (mainly for warmth). I took a simple black dress and added this HUGE blanket scarf to it as a wrap to add some color and dimension. I also layered some thin, long necklaces to add some glam, because you always need some glam when you’re heading out with your girlfriends.

This is just a small taste of what’s to come in the fall. Theres so many sweaters, boots, and hats I can’t wait to break out of my closet; and of course we can’t forget the brown smokey eye looks coming! Let me know what outfits are your favorite or what your favorite fall pieces are! Don’t forget any of these outfits can be accessorized by a fabulous pumpkin spice latte (which I actually don’t like… sorry guys).

An Insider On Francesca’s Collection

For those of you who don’t know what Francesca’s is, it’s a chain boutique. They have over 670 stores around 48 states and they sell clothing, jewelry, accessories, and little knick knacks as well. Although it is a large chain store, every store is meant to feel like a small town boutique with a unique and fun experience. I’ve worked at Francesca’s for a year now and I thought I would share some of my inside scoops on the store from an employee!

What It’s Like To Work At Francesca’s

Francesca’s is an amazing place to work if you love people. I have loved every second of working for this company over the past year. They really care about their staff and they give back to us all the time. From upper management to my main bosses in the boutiques I’ve worked in, they have all been great to me.

Now, this job isn’t as easy as working at other clothing stores (to my knowledge). We do a ton of training with how to engage and connect with all of our customers to make sure that they have an amazing experience every time they come into the store. Sometimes this is kind of weird and uncomfortable (especially for someone who can be super strange and awkward like me), but it honestly makes you a better associate and a better person as well. We are taught to be kind of pushy with getting to know you and that’s something I don’t always enjoy because I know there are lots of people out there who just don’t want to be bothered when they shop and we understand that, but we still try our best to make conversation and help you with anything you need. It’s a fine line that takes time to learn when not to cross it, but like I said, we do a ton of training to teach us about it.

Another thing I’m not a fan of is the fact that we wear the stores jewelry when we work. This is a cool idea to showcase what it looks like on and bring attention to it, but then it’s like buying a used piece of jewelry. We clean it everyday after we wear it, but it still bothers me a little knowing I wore something someone just bought.

Something a lot of people don’t believe about working at Francesca’s is most of the associates won’t lie to you ever. If you ask for their opinion on what you tried on, they’ll tell you exactly what they think (or at least I will). They also will help you figure out how to save the most money or help you find an affordable option. We are taught that our guest is 110% our priority and they need to be happy. That doesn’t mean we talk you into spending $300 on stuff you don’t want. We don’t judge you for only shopping the clearance rack or asking us how much your bill will be and then changing your mind when it’s too much. We want you to love what you got and be happy that you bought it for what you wanted to spend.

Something really cool about the store is they get new shipment in everyday so there is always new stuff coming in! This is cool for clothing, but sometimes they ship us 10 mugs that say Gangster Napper and we all look at each other like “what is happening?”

Overall, I love my job at Francesca’s and I try my best to do the best job I can while working there. I know some days I come into work and it’s hard for me to talk to people or I look like I’m half asleep, but you have to understand everyday is different and some days you just aren’t on your game, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try my best to do my job.

What Are The Best Deals?

Honestly, I get asked this a lot by people who love to shop at our store and I don’t mind telling people because I want everyone to get a good deal on the stuff they buy. Some people never shop at Francesca’s because they say its expensive, but they don’t realize that their stuff is on sale ALL THE TIME!

The best deal I’ve ever seen them do on clothing was if you bought 3 or more items, they all dropped down to $20! This is an AMAZING DEAL!! If you bought all $48 dresses, you would save over 58% on your entire purchase…. thats crazy!

The best deal overall is definitely their friends and family sale. This is where everything in the entire store is BOGO (buy one, get one) 60% off. This is especially great for what we consider “gift” items. This is things like coffee mugs, trinket dishes, wall art, box signs, random rubber dinosaurs (don’t ask me why we sell some of the stuff we sell). This stuff almost NEVER goes on sale so it’s a great time to stock up on it for little gifts to keep around or for more stuff in your room that you don’t need, but want.

Other sales that are great are when they have sales like $20 white dresses or $25 fashion tops. They change it up all the time, but these sales cover a wide range of clothing and they can bring the price down over 30% sometimes. If you’re confused about if something you like is include in the sale, just ask someone!

On top of this, jewelry is almost always BOGO 50% and clothing, jewelry, accessories, and shoes have the same deal a lot too. This is a sale that occurs a lot that’s a pretty good deal that you can usually wait around for if you have something coming up and need an outfit. Also sometimes you can include clearance items in the BOGO and save even more money so watch out for that as well!

The deals we run that you should stay away from…. obviously no sales… This is a rarity in our stores and I really hate when people come in during this time and spend money because WE HAVE SALES 95% OF THE TIME! Just wait a little bit and come back when a new sale comes around! The BOGO 40% off sale is not my favorite. I know its only a 10% difference from the other sale but, it’s the lowest sale we do and if you can wait, the BOGO 50% will come back around.

What Are Some Of My Favorite Pieces?

I have shopped at Francesca’s for many years. One of the main reasons I got a job here was because it’s my favorite clothing store. I love it so much because it really reflects my style, but it also includes so many other styles. They also have tons of outfits for anything from leggings and a t-shirt to prom dresses (only online though), but seriously they have it all.

*little side note, Francesca’s changes out their clothing all the time. Sometimes pieces can be gone in a few weeks and they never restock them so most of these pieces are unavailable for purchase, but that’s part of what I love about the store; every piece is unique and only a few people have what you have.*

This is an oldie, but such a goodie! I bought this a long time ago in hopes of one day wearing it to the Kentucky Derby…needless to say I have never done that, but I have worn it to formal events and fancy dinners (I actually wore it out to dinner when John met all my family for the first time) and I love it. I love the flower detail and how the top is separated from the bottom to give it a little added dimension. I also have on a necklace and earrings from Francesca’s that are hard to see, but I snagged them both on clearance and adore them!

Next is another “fancy” dress I got a few years back for my senior pictures that I love. It’s got a soft, chevron patterned top that is so so comfortable and then the skirt is really thick and sleek. I think its classy and elegant and this dress remains a staple piece in my closet. I added some gold and coral earrings again from Francesca’s and on clearance (clearance jewelry is where it’s at my friends).

Now this is a new favorite of mine I just got about a month ago when the store was having a $20 sleeveless top sale! I adore this top so much I can’t even explain it. It has a giant bow in the back that I’m obsessed with and it makes my boobs look phenomenal! If I stand wrong it can make me look pregnant, but its give and take right? This purse is another favorite of mine from the store. We sell some nice handbags that I think are worth the money. I own 2 large ones like this brown one and a smaller side bag and a little wristlet and I love them all. This brown one has definitely taken the most beatings of them all, but it still looks bomb and works perfect for me. These jeans aren’t from Francesca’s, but we do sell a pair that looks the exact same they’re just dark jean colored. The layered necklace is a new trend at Francesca’s. They have tons of thin, dainty necklaces that are absolutely fabulous that you should definitely check out. Also if you love chokers they are literally drowning in chokers, it’s so crazy I can’t even explain how many chokers I’ve seen since working at Francesca’s.

This is an outfit I would definitely, and probably have, worn to work. This white top was a signiture top for awhile back in the spring that we had in tons of colors and patterns and I only got it in white and I regret it so much. It’s so soft and comfy and I love that it’s a plain shirt, but it’s got a little something extra. My jeans are also from Francesca’s, but I have to say I’m not a huge fan of their jeans. Yes they are super comfy and stretchy, but they are too short for me. I’m 5’8 and I usually buy long length jeans and Francesca’s has a very small size range and no length variation in their jeans so this is the only pair I own. This necklace is kind of heavy, but I love to wear it as a pop of color with white and again… clearance baby.

This dress is made of a material called cupro. It’s so so soft and we sell tons of it! This t-shirt dress used to be another signature that we had in lots of colors and I love it because I can throw it on with some sandals and BOOM I have a whole outfit. The only downside is it hardcore shows when I sweat, which if often. These necklaces are separate, but they came as a pack of 2 and they’re my go-to plain gold necklaces that work for almost everything. This is one of the few pairs of shoes I own from Francesca’s as well. I don’t buy a lot of their shoes because we have to have shoes with backs on them for work so I can’t wear these too often and a lot of their shoes aren’t super practical to be standing in for 4+ hours at a time, but these were so darn cute I had to get them!

Francesca’s also sells a ton of comfy tees and sweaters. This is my favorite sweater to just throw on with some leggings and chill in. Its super soft inside and I bought it wayyyy too big for extra comfort. Francesca’s also has great leggings that go on sale a lot in the fall and winter, but they can be a little see through so be careful!

Finally, we have this bikini. I do also own the bottoms to this, but I didn’t wanna be in a full blown bikini because yikes… but I think this is the first year Francesca’s did swim, but I’m not sure. They did a lot of funky bathing suits, but I only got this one and I loved it so much this summer. In the summer I basically live in bikinis and I beat the crap out of them and this one held up so well. I also love that it was high neck because I burn on my chest all the time and it helps prevent that.

I need to take a moment to explain to you my full appreciation for the hat I’m wearing in this picture… This is probably my all time favorite hat and I got it on sale for $15 and I wear it non stop! It says “Bad Hair Day” on it and has a cute little aztec pattern band in the back and I just love it to death. I also mentioned it in my post about my beach day essentials because I literally don’t go anywhere without this hat.

I’m so greatful to have worked at Francesca’s for this long and all the wonderful people and experiences I’ve had there. I love the clothes, I love the job, I love everything about it and I hope you check out a store or even check them out online! I hope you love it as much as I do!

My Beach Day Essentials

If you’ve read some of my other blog posts, you know that I’m a total beach babe! (I’m convinced salt water flows through my veins, but it’s fine) I head to the beach as much as I possibly can during the year and whether I’m headed for the day or 3 weeks, these are must-haves for a great beach day!

I know when you first look at it, it can seem like a ton of stuff, but honestly, thats usually how it goes with me (ask my boyfriend how much crap I pack to come visit him for the weekend… yikes) but once it’s all in the beach bag and on your body, it’s really not a lot.

1. Beach Bag

First, lets talk about this beach bag… omg this beach bag… this bag is my ride or die and I’ve been obsessed with it since I was like 16. I saw these in a store in Virginia way back when and I thought they were amazing. They’re Called Sea Bags and they’re made from recycled sailboat sails and rope. They are so durable, as you can see mine has seen some better days, but they’re simple, beautiful, and functional. This is a customized one that my mom got for me for christmas two years ago, but they have all different shapes and sizes. They even do more than just beach bags and you can see them all at seabags.com. This bag is a large size bag with a zipper and its the perfect size to fit all the stuff in the top photo. I usually pack way more than that in it because I like to be over prepared and they’re machine washable!!

2. Towel

We all know we need a good beach towel for the beach… I mean that is a definite must-have, but there are certain things that make a good towel. First, it has to be soft. I get in the ocean a lot at the beach and I lay on my towel to tan my back and I want it to feel soft and amazing. I also love my towels to be ginormous! I don’t want to worry if my whole body is going to fit on the towel or not so I buy HUGE ones that even work for my 6’6” boyfriend. Beach towels also have to be super cute and fun because lets be honest, your beach towel pattern choice says a lot about you, so why not get something you love?

3. “Blanket”

This is another “towel” I have been taking to the beach a ton recently. This is a towel from Sand Cloud, which some of you may have herd of. I used to be an ambassador for the company and I left because I felt like they over advertised and were more about bring in customers to sell product, than driven by the concept that they donate to help marine life. Regardless, I have some of their products, which are really great. This towel is kind of small, but I use it to cover my face when I lay down in my chair or to cover certain parts of me after they get burnt so I can still lay out and tan (this tends to be a regular occurrence for me) Its so so cute and part of the money does go to a great cause! There’s tons of ambassadors out there so look for their discount codes before you buy because their stuff is sort of expensive, but it’s quality stuff and the discount codes will save you 25%!

4. Cover-Up

Next is the beach cover-up. Now, if we’re being honest, about 60% of the time I wear a t shirt down to the beach and that’s it and sometimes I don’t even bother with that, but a beach coverup is essential, especially if you have to walk or drive to the beach. This way you have something on, without fully putting on clothes (because honestly who wants to do that?) As you can see this beach coverup is sea through (see what I did there?) so it’s super lightweight and easy to throw on. Most of the time I roll up the sleeves too and head on my way! I love that it’s white because that’s super beachy to me and shows off my tan and if it gets dirty, I just bleach it and its back to brand new!

5. Sunscreen

If you aren’t bringing sunscreen to the beach, you are not up with the times because skin caner is SO REAL these days and we all know it! These are three of my favorite brands of sunscreen and I usually keep all three of these different SPF’s in my bag because some parts of me burn a lot faster than others so I like to have my options (like I said, always over-prepared). The first brand is Banana Boat. This is such a classic. This is what I wear if I’m going to be getting in the water a lot or playing volleyball or football on the beach because it will stay on the longest so you don’t have to worry about reapplying so much. The next brand is Neutrogena and honestly, this stuff just smells amazing. If they made regular lotion that smelt like this I would wear it everyday. It does it’s job at protecting, but it smells like a hug from summer time (honestly I smelt it for like 10 minutes and it just smells like summer to me I don’t know how else to describe it) Last, but not least is Hawaiian Tropic. This is the one I love for those lower SPF’s when I start to get tan( which is right around now. WOOOOO!!) I put this on my legs and it helps enhance your tan, but it is also very moisturizing to the skin. If you like the smell of sunscreen, this one also smells good, but it smells like sunscreen and pina coladas.

6. Flip Flops

I apologize for how worn in my shoes are, but these are the best flip flops on the planet. I’m sure by now most of you have herd of Rainbow flip flops. They’re been around for years and they’re super trendy right now and I’m not complaining. These shoes hold up like no other and they match everything. Once you break them in, they’re tailored to your feet forever and they have a lifetime warranty if anything with the shoe defects. I’ve had mine for almost three years now and they’re still going strong. I wear them to the beach everyday and they hold up great if you get them wet, just don’t get them soaked because they get worn down faster.

7. Hat

I do not head to the beach without a hat. I know there are lots of girls out there who just aren’t hat people and that’s fine! I just happen to be one who LOVES baseball hats. I have a very large amount of them, but this is one of my favorites. It says bad hair day on the front and has this super cute band on the back and I absolutely adore it for any lazy-day outfit. I take it to the beach mainly so my face doesn’t get as much sun because this girl will never get wrinkles…. ever!!! Plus, it’s helpful if you don’t constantly feel like wearing sunglasses. This hat is from Francesca’s, but there are also tone of cute ones on Etsy that I love as well! I know the big sun hats are super cute for the beach too, but I personally don’t buy them because I think they’re more for aesthetic than staying on your head and I need mine strapped on while I’m kicking butt at corn hole!

8. Book

A good read is always a must have at the beach for me. Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors. I have read so so many of her books. If you like drama and love stories, her books will be great for you. They all take place on Nantucket Island and they all have great story lines, but they don’t interconnect so you can read which ever ones you like to start. One of my favorites of hers is The Island. These are also great summer reads because almost all the stories take place in the summer time so it gets you in that summer mood. I would read more of them, but I am a super slow reader so I usually only finish about two books every summer… I also love to read magazines when I’m on the beach too for outfit or food inspo or things to talk about on here too!! One of my favorites is Southern Living, but apparently that’s just me who loves that magazine (oops)

9. Insulated Water Bottle

Last, I always bring a quality water bottle to stay hydrated! So many people forget how dehydrated you can get spending a few hours at the beach, especially if you’re drinking something other than water (the water of wisdom as I like to call it ; )) Insulated water bottles will keep it cold, and handy for you to drink throughout the day. This is a cheap knock off one my mom gave to me, but I have one called an Ozark Trail that I bought form Walmart for $10 and it works better than a Yeti if you’re trying to stay classy on a budget!

And that is all for my beach day essentials! I know it seems like a lot to haul to the beach, but once it’s in the beach bag, it’s really not much at all and you’ll be glad it’s by your side for you to relax and enjoy your beach trip, whether it be a day long or a lifetime long. Let me know you’re essentials in the comments down below and feel free to comment any questions you have about any of the stuff pictured above too! Can’t wait to hear from you guys!

My Favorite Clothes For Every Workout

I love to mix up my workouts every week. I feel like my body responds more when I change the style of workout I’m doing constantly. I do Barre, BodyPump, Cycle, Yoga, and weightlifting on a regular basis and I love to wear different styles of workout clothes based off of the type of workout I’m doing.

YOGA:

Yoga is definitely the workout I do the most. I’m a total yoga nut, inversion junkie, whatever you want to call it I LOVE YOGA!! And I have tons of different clothes to wear to yoga. I also wear different outfits based off the type of yoga I’m doing (hot, yinyasa, triptych, vinyasa, or I’m just stretching it out) but this is my usual go-to for most of them.

I usually stick to softer leggings that I can still sweat in, but I also love high waisted leggings because when you’re moving and bending so much, your pants tend to fall down… a lot and the person behind you does not love your VS thong as much as you do… I also pick a sports bra that’s not super tight because sometimes I think those can get uncomfortable while I workout and I want to feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible during my yoga practice. For tops, I tend to pick something tighter so it doesn’t fall in my face when I’m in down dog or anything, but sometimes I go loosey goosey just so I can feel relaxed and free, but sometimes this bites me in the butt and I suffocate a little bit every time I’m upside down. For shoes, I go barefoot, but I wear a comfy pair of flip flops to go to class so they’re easy to take off. I wear flip flops in the winter time too because I’m super lazy ๐Ÿ˜€

Running:

Running is something I’m trying to do more often. I’m not a huge fan of it but, I love the way it makes me feel (its a love hate relationship). I feel so accomplished when I run further and further, but I always feel like I’m going to have a heart attack at the end. But when I do run, this is what I love to wear…

Since it’s summer, we’ll stick to what I wear now when I run in the heat. I usually wear athletic shorts and a tank top, this is partially because I worship the sun and love to work on my tan at every chance possible, but it’s also so the shirt doesn’t hold the heat in. If my shorts don’t have the lining in the already, I wear spandex under them so if they ride up I don’t get chub rub between my thighs. When I run, I wear a really supportive sports bra. I don’t have huge boobs, but my best friend Hannah does and I know her struggle is real, but I tend to wear my tighter Victoria’s Secret sports bra to keep the girls in place.

Side Note: I think VS sports bras are amazing. When they go on sale they are extremely affordable! They’re comfy and supportive and they come in all kinds of styles so I definitely think you should check them out!

For shoes, I try to wear shoes with lots of support, but honestly I don’t have a great pair of running shoes so I usually wear my Nike Free Runs.

Cycle:

Cycle is one of my new found workouts that I love!!! I love to sweat my butt off when I workout and cycle always leaves me drenched! I started with online cycle classes that I did in the gym of my apartment and then moved to gentle cycle; now I can do a whole hour long cycle class and I’m addicted!

When I head to cycle class, I stick with some really tight leggings. I like the compression on my legs while I cycle plus, shorts tend to ride up when I cycle and then the seat rubs my inner thighs. For my shirt, I love to wear baggy shirts so I can easily pull them up to wipe the sweat off of my face and they don’t show off my rolls since I’m seated for most of the workout (Yikes…) I wear my flat sneakers because I don’t have cycle shoes, but they work well. I also wear a headband normally to help deal with the whole sweating issue.

Weightlifting:

I started weightlifting when I was in high school for volleyball and have learned more and more about it since then. I love to do legs when I weight lift because I LOVE workin my booty! I don’t do much back or chest weightlifting because those aren’t areas I tend to want lots of muscle definition, but I’m trying to expand my horizons and do that more, but when it’s time to work that booty, this is what I wear.

For weightlifting, I stick to comfy pants that give me space to move when I squat and do lunges and things. I also pick leggings that aren’t see through when they stretch out!!! This is a big problem I find with a lot of leggings so if you have a big booty or are doing lots of squats, always try them on and check to see if you can see your underwear through them in the mirror when u squat down! For shirts, I go tighter because I don’t want them to get in the way and get caught on weights or benches. I don’t go skin tight because I don’t like my clothes to fit that way, but it’s personal preference. I again stick to the flatter shoes because it’s good for you to wear shoes that are as flat as possible when you weight lift. I know lots of people who wear converse to lift, but I’m not a very serious weightlifter honestly ad my white converse stay on reserve for cute outfits only.

I hope you guys found this helpful and let me know what you love to wear to the gym! I’m just starting my CHAARG Summer FitPlan so I’ll be working out a TON and would love some suggestions! Leave a comment below and share with your gym buddy! Down below I left information about all the clothes I’m wearing in each of the photos if you want to check any of them out! I’m 5’8 and 165 lbs if you want to buy online and need a size reference! Look out for more posts coming your way soon!
